Veteran Actor Ted Shackelford, 80, Spotted with Walker in Rare Los Angeles Outing

Ted Shackelford, the esteemed actor recognized for his memorable performances in long-running television series such as "Knots Landing," was recently observed during a public appearance in Los Angeles.

The 80-year-old star was photographed wearing a blue collared shirt underneath a blue knit cardigan, complemented by black trousers, sunglasses, and athletic shoes.

A Storied Career on Television

Shackelford initially gained prominence through his portrayal of Raymond Gordon in 110 episodes of "Another World." He subsequently secured the pivotal role of Gary Ewing, first in the popular series "Dallas," and later as a central figure in its successful spinoff, "Knots Landing."

He depicted Gary Ewing, the 'black sheep' of the affluent Ewing family, from 1979 until 1993, maintaining an active acting career even after the conclusion of the series.

Despite embodying the character for over a decade, Shackelford shared with The Dallas Decoder in 2013 that he never developed an affinity for Gary Ewing, describing him as "weak."

"I thought he never thought anything through. I didn’t see any strength of character," Shackelford remarked. "I mean, just once I wanted him to have some courage. And I never saw that."

Following his tenure on "Knots Landing," Shackelford appeared in numerous television movies and made guest appearances on various shows, including "Cybill" and "Spin City."

He later returned to the realm of daytime drama, playing the characters Jeffery and William Bardwell on "The Young and the Restless" from 2006 to 2015. His most recent television credit was an episode of the acclaimed series "NCIS" in 2017.

Fond Memories and Continued Legacy

Beyond his individual projects, Shackelford reprised his role as Gary Ewing in the 2013 "Dallas" reboot. He also participated in the 2005 "Knots Landing" reunion, which gathered fellow cast members like Joan Van Ark, Michele Lee, Donna Mills, and William Devane. During this event, they revisited the reconstructed set and shared behind-the-scenes anecdotes from the show's production.

Reflecting on her on-screen romantic scenes with Shackelford in "Knots Landing," co-star Donna Mills told Entertainment Tonight in August that they were quite "steamy."

"I mean, look at Ted," Mills stated. "I mean, really, get into bed with that body — and he’s such a sweetheart. He really is. It was, uh, it was fun. I can’t deny it. It was fun."
