Trump Criticizes Democratic Party's "Godless Communists," Warns of Urban Decline from Socialist Policies
During a recent conference, former President Donald Trump asserted that the Democratic Party's embrace of socialist ideologies poses the most significant threat to the United States in its history.

Former President Donald Trump recently targeted the evolving direction of the Democratic Party, telling attendees at a Faith & Freedom Coalition gathering that recent socialist primary victors represent "godless communists."
Allegations of "Godless Communists" and National Threat
Trump articulated his strong views, stating, "These are not social democrats. These are hardcore, godless communists. They're godless communists. All communists are godless. They don't believe in God. This is the most serious threat to our country since its existence. In my opinion, 250 years ago. This is a major threat to our country." He emphasized his belief that the nation faces its most profound danger since its founding.
Shifting Political Landscape and Founding Principles
The remarks followed New York's primary elections, where several candidates backed by socialist platforms successfully unseated incumbent officeholders. Speaking in anticipation of the country's 250th anniversary, Trump drew a contrast between America's foundational principles and what he described as the increasing influence of socialist movements within the Democratic Party. He observed, "Our most important birthday so far, 250 years and instead of speaking about Christ and instead of speaking about freedom and victories of all different kinds, we're speaking about yet another threat to the foundations of America."
New York City Rent Freeze and Mayoral Influence
The former president specifically criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani regarding a recent decision by the city's Rent Guidelines Board. Mamdani also celebrated a political triumph in Tuesday's primaries, as all three congressional candidates he endorsed—Brad Lander, Claire Valdez, and Darializa Avila Chevalier—secured victories in their respective Democratic primary races.
Addressing the Rent Guidelines Board's action, Trump noted, "For the first time in history, the powerful Rent Stabilization Board, as an example that sets rents in New York City just happened today. They've done it for years and years and they've been very far left." The board's vote enacted a rent freeze, prohibiting landlords from increasing rents on new one-year or two-year leases. Trump recalled his interaction with the mayor, stating, "Mayor Mamdani, who came to the White House and seemed like a nice guy, but he said he was going to do this in his campaign."
Warnings of Urban Decay and National Decline
Trump issued a stark warning that the rent freeze decision would precipitate the city's deterioration. He cautioned, "What the mayor doesn't say is that these buildings will soon turn into ghettos and slums, and that everybody will continue leaving New York." He further suggested that if such policies were to spread nationwide, the consequences would be dire. "As this spreads throughout the country, very much like an uncontrollable form of cancer, the country itself will be taken down. It will be third world, strictly third world. And it's happened many times before to very big and very powerful countries. But it's not going to happen to the United States of America," Trump asserted, expressing confidence in the nation's resilience.
