Authorities in Rosenberg, Texas, have arrested a man following an incident where he allegedly drove his vehicle into the front of a closed Kroger grocery store, reportedly stating he needed to use the restroom.
The individual, who has not been publicly identified, reportedly crashed his car into the supermarket early Sunday morning. The store was closed at the time, and the man was reportedly frustrated by the locked doors.
Unusual Early Morning Incident
The unusual event unfolded shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Sunday in the city of Rosenberg. The collision resulted in substantial damage to the retail establishment, specifically impacting the pharmacy entrance.
Photographs disseminated by law enforcement depicted the vehicle situated inside the store, surrounded by shattered glass both within and outside the entrance. The metal door frames also sustained considerable damage.
The Rosenberg Police Department detailed the incident in a social media statement: "On Sunday, September 27th, at approximately 0428, a known male individual intentionally accelerated into Kroger, causing extensive damage to the pharmacy entrance."
Charges Filed
Authorities have identified the suspect only as a 60-year-old male. He has since been taken into custody and faces charges of criminal mischief, according to law enforcement officials.
The department also included a lighthearted but firm advisory regarding the peculiar motive: "I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go but we strongly advise finding a store open for business…to do your business."
