Speaking to NPR in June about World War II, Eastwood observed:

"It's the only war that everybody knew there was a common enemy to the world. There was evil being done, and it was a fight for justice. Other wars, I think there's a lot of ambiguity. There's a lot of, ‘were we supposed to be there,’ [and] ‘why are we doing this?’ But that war, I think, resonates with most because it's so clear, right and wrong."
