Ms. Rachel's Expanding Media Empire Coexists With Substantial Progressive Political Donations

Rachel Accurso, widely recognized as Ms. Rachel in the realm of children's entertainment, has channeled more than $22,000 towards Democratic and progressive political candidates since 2024. This significant political activity occurs concurrently with the remarkable expansion of her brand, which targets toddlers and preschoolers, into major partnerships with Netflix, Penguin Random House, and toy lines featured in prominent retailers such as Target.

An observer noted the pervasive presence of her content, stating, "For families that have ‘littles,’ as she would say, she's a part of daily life at this point."

The Ascent of a Children's Media Personality

Accurso, 43, launched her YouTube channel in 2019. Her motivation stemmed from a personal challenge: finding limited educational media resources suitable for her son, who experienced a speech delay during his toddler years. Her channel quickly gained immense popularity, leading to the creation of "Songs for Littles," a recurring series. In this program, Accurso, often seen in her characteristic pink shirt, overalls, and headband, performs a blend of classic and original children's songs designed for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Her rise to prominence has cemented her status as one of the most commercially influential figures in American children’s media. This commercial success is mirrored by her increasingly vocal political engagement.

Beyond her digital presence, Accurso has secured substantial deals with Netflix, announced for 2025, and book publisher Penguin Random House, which began in 2024. The Spin Master toy line, featuring Ms. Rachel, debuted earlier this year, making her brand accessible on shelves at large retailers like Target and Amazon.

Industry experts highlighted the intense interest in partnering with Accurso. One source recalled, "In the years leading up to the announcement of Ms. Rachel's toy deal with Spin Master, there was a bidding war. So toy and game makers knew that she was a personality with a ton of reach that was worth talking to." The source further recounted, "I distinctly remember at Toy Fair New York knowing that Ms. Rachel was in the building — not in character, but she was taking meetings. And eventually the question became, within the industry: who is going to get the Ms. Rachel toys?"

The toy collection offers various items focused on both learning and entertainment, with several sets featuring Ms. Rachel herself as a toy version. The Netflix partnership is seen as broadening her audience, bringing her program to children who might not otherwise access it, particularly those whose families regulate YouTube usage. Similarly, her line of children's books addresses the importance of analog media for younger audiences in an increasingly digital world.

This comprehensive licensing approach to Accurso's brand signifies a notable shift in children's entertainment, where online influencers are now occupying spaces traditionally held by mainstream media entities.

Political Stances and Financial Contributions

Federal records indicate Accurso has contributed approximately $22,500 to various Democratic and progressive candidates since 2024. She has also garnered attention for her forthright views on politically charged subjects, including the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Her political contributions include several donations to Vice President Kamala Harris's campaigns. In 2024, the day after then-President Joe Biden withdrew from the election and endorsed Harris, Accurso donated $250 to the Harris Victory Fund. In the subsequent days, she contributed an additional $750 to Harris for President and the Harris Victory Fund. By September 2024, further donations of $2,000 brought her total contributions to Harris's campaign to $3,000, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Campaign finance records from 2026 also show Accurso spent $12,000 on various New York political races, supporting candidates who share similar viewpoints. These donations included $5,000 to former New York State Assemblymember Yuh-Line Niou’s state Senate campaign, $3,500 to Democratic socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier, and $4,500 to former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander. While Niou did not win in the primaries, both Chevalier and Lander secured the Democratic nominations for their respective congressional campaigns. All three candidates advocated platforms critical of both Israel and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Additionally, Federal Election Commission records show Accurso gave $3,000 to Abdul El-Sayed’s Michigan Senate campaign in July. El-Sayed is a figure who has publicly stated that Israel is committing
