Giants Pitcher Logan Webb Deactivates Social Media Account Following Heated Online Exchange

The ongoing struggles of the San Francisco Giants appear to be taking a toll on pitcher Logan Webb, with his frustration publicly surfacing online.

On Wednesday, in the aftermath of a decisive loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Oracle Park, the All-Star hurler engaged in a series of exchanges with critics on X (formerly Twitter) before ultimately deleting his account.

Online Exchange Ignites

The public back-and-forth began after Jack Loder, a reporter for KNBR, shared a video where he critiqued what he described as a "leadership void" within the Giants organization and questioned whether Webb had consistently delivered on expectations as the team's top pitcher.

"When someone is supposed to be your ace, you think that they're going to give you the best chance to win every week," Loder stated. "Logan Webb had an awesome June, he was bad in April, he missed most of May. I've said over the years that he's been a great Giant, like I've really appreciated his Giants tenure. But there's always been a little bit lacking."

Webb reacted strongly to Loder's comments, posting in response, "You know what's sad is they allow people like you in the locker room." When KNBR host Adam Copeland joined the thread, Webb quickly dismissed him with the retort: "Who are you?"

The pitcher's replies continued when one user characterized his public comments as embarrassing, to which Webb sharply responded, "Do you get paid by KNBR?" He then directed another critical message towards a different account, stating, "Honestly you probably don't know anything about anything some loser on the couch that couldn't make his little league team."

On-Field Struggles Precede Online Drama

The social media incident followed a difficult outing on the mound for Webb. He surrendered five runs in the first inning, including a grand slam hit by Kazuma Okamoto. Despite settling in to complete seven innings, the Giants' bullpen subsequently faltered, and the team's offense was nearly no-hit by Dylan Cease, resulting in a 10-0 shutout loss.

First-year manager Tony Vitello, who previously achieved success at Tennessee, is navigating a challenging inaugural season with the team. His intense college coaching approach has faced increasing scrutiny as the losses have accumulated.

Webb is scheduled to participate in the All-Star Game next week. However, instead of fielding questions primarily about his performance this season, he will likely be addressing the fallout from his recent social media activity.
