Wheel of Fortune Announcer Jim Thornton's Attorney Addresses Game Show Suspension

Jim Thornton, the familiar voice of "Wheel of Fortune," is addressing his recent suspension from the popular game show through his legal counsel.

On Tuesday, his attorney stated that the 61-year-old personality "did not engage in any illegal conduct, was not arrested, and has not been charged with any crime."

Thornton began his tenure as the announcer for the long-running game show in 2011.

Details of the Alleged Incident

The suspension reportedly stems from an incident in May aboard an American Airlines flight. Reports indicate a fellow passenger lodged a complaint regarding Thornton's conduct during the journey, leading to law enforcement meeting him upon arrival at the gate.

His legal representative further clarified the situation, asserting that:

When questioned about the complaint made by a fellow passenger on the flight, law enforcement spoke to him for five minutes or less, immediately determined that no wrongdoing had occurred and told my client he was free to go.

Thornton's Extensive Career

Thornton succeeded the revered "Wheel of Fortune" announcer Charlie O’Donnell, who passed away in 2010. Before joining "Wheel of Fortune" and its spin-off "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune," Thornton lent his vocal talents to various productions, including "Celebrity Death Match," "The Cleveland Show," and Pixar’s animated film "Monsters, Inc."
