Conservative PAC Commits Multi-Million Dollar Investment to Key House Races, Prioritizing AI and Big Tech Policy
A new conservative super PAC, Defending Our Values, is making its first significant campaign expenditures to bolster two Republican House candidates amid crucial debates on artificial intelligence and technology regulation.
Politics·

A newly formed conservative super political action committee, Defending Our Values, has commenced its first substantial campaign investments, channeling support toward two Republican contenders in House races deemed vital for the party's ambition to retain control of the legislative chamber.
With Republicans holding a narrow majority in the House of Representatives, a handful of closely contested elections could ultimately determine the balance of power in Congress following the 2026 midterm cycle. Sources familiar with the super PAC's strategy indicate that Defending Our Values identifies both of these particular contests as prime opportunities to aid Republicans in preserving their current House majority.
This political initiative by the group emerges as artificial intelligence rapidly ascends to prominence as a central policy discussion point on Capitol Hill. Lawmakers are currently grappling with the challenge of how to effectively regulate this swiftly evolving technology while simultaneously fostering American innovation and safeguarding the nation's technological competitive edge against rivals like China. Defending Our Values advocates for conservative voices, rather than solely Silicon Valley executives, to take a leading role in formulating these critical policies.
While Defending Our Values had previously announced a comprehensive $15 million election expenditure last week, the specific candidates slated to receive its backing had not been publicly disclosed until now.
Focus on Emerging Technology Policy
The individuals chosen as the initial recipients of this financial commitment are Marques and Singer, according to an individual with direct knowledge of the investments. The organization selected this pair based on its conviction that they would be among the most ardent proponents in Congress for confronting large technology companies, enhancing online safeguards for children and families, and advancing legislative measures designed to ensure the United States surpasses China in the realm of artificial intelligence innovation.
Both candidates are presently navigating crowded Republican primary fields, with their respective general election contests also anticipated to be highly competitive.
Key House Races and Candidate Profiles
In Alabama's 2nd Congressional District, Marques is competing against several other candidates in the Republican primary. He has garnered significant endorsements, including from former President Donald Trump and Senator Katie Britt, a Republican from Alabama.
Alabama is scheduled to conduct a special Republican primary election on August 11, following recent redistricting efforts.
Similarly, Singer is vying for the nomination in a crowded Republican primary in Florida's 25th Congressional District. He has received endorsements from various Republican figures, notably Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, ahead of the August 18 primary election.
According to the individual familiar with the super PAC's strategic planning, the group's financial outlays are designed not only to assist Marques and Singer in securing victory in their respective crowded Republican primaries but also to elevate their public recognition as they prepare for the general election in November.
Should he successfully clinch the nomination, Marques is expected to face the incumbent, Representative Shomari Figures, a Democrat representing Alabama.
If Singer emerges victorious from his primary, he would likely contend with Representative Jared Moskowitz, a Florida Democrat who has been a vocal critic of former President Trump in Congress.
